LABPitch · Software
LABPitch is a Software tool powered by Labview aimed to ease the tuning process of any musical instrument.
It uses Frequency Analysis, Fast Fourier Transform, Envelope detection and other advanced features to decode Musical notes out of an acoustic stimulus via a computer built-in or external microphone.
All major and minor scales key signature notes can be displayed on a rotary dial with notes correctly spelled. Intervals are also easily visualized.
Chromatic Circle Display.
Decoded notes are displayed in a chromatic circle. When no filter is set, note decoding is automatic and displayed in the ring and upper slider. When filter is set, note detection is by filter selection and up to 3 notes can be displayed simultaneously in the display. Both pitch and frequency are displayed.
Slider scales shows the cents offset and the frequency. Resolution of a fraction of cent can be set for high accuracy tuning.
The chromatic circle default reference at 12 o'clock is A, this is the tonic position. Circle can be rotated clock or counterclockwise to change the tonic reference. Notes decoded interval to tonic reference can be easily visualized. e.g., minor 2nd, Major third, Major Seventh, etc.
LED indicators for Transposing, Filtering, Non-equal Temperament and Averages completed indicates at a glance if any of these settings is active.
Powerful Transpose Module.
LABPitch allows you to transpose by cents, semitones and/or fraction of comma. In addition, A Reference can be selected from 390 to 490 Hertz. All Transpose controls can be set simultaneously.
In this example, A reference set to 432 Hz, Cents transpose -7, 1 semitone flat and 1/6 of Diatonic comma.
